South Korea has clarified that it will continue economic cooperation with Iran.
South Korea’s ambassador to Iran has said that despite the US sanctions, Seoul will continue economic cooperation with Tehran.
Rio Jiang Haiyan met Muhammad Raza Bakhtiari, in charge of international affairs in Iran’s Chamber of Commerce on Friday. He told the reports of South Korean companies based on the severance of trade related relations with Iran as baseless. South Korea’s ambassador said that his country favors expanding relations with Iran. He said that Southern Korea’s companies are reliant on Iranian oil and are willing to negotiate with Seoul, Washington so that they can continue to buy oil from Iran.
Be aware that after leaving the nuclear deal in unilateral form, Trump has increased pressure against Iran since May 8, 2018. The US President has declared that any country which does not break its economic relations with Iran should be prepared to suffer the worst consequences. Many countries of the world have announced that they will not follow the unilateral policy of the United States.
