CBI Director Alok Verma and Special Director Rakesh Asthana have been sent on leave. Joint Director M Nageshwar Rao has been made the Interim Director. In this case, the CBI has arrested DSP Devendra Sharma after raiding his office. Devendra Sharma is currently on remand. Special Director Asthana is also named in the FIR, which has challenged the High Court to cancel the order. On this, the Delhi High Court will decide on Monday, till then Asthana has got the exemption from arrest.

After the Union Cabinet meeting, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, “Central Investigation Agency is the premier investigating agency of this country. Therefore, its constitutional integrity should be maintained. The historical image of the CBI is that when there is a big case in the country, then it is said that it should be a CBI probe. Today is a bizarre and unfortunate situation. Two big CBI officials and special directors of the CBI are blaming each other. The government can not investigate this matter. According to the CBI Act the CVC can investigate this matter. These are in relation to those laws, those cases which are related to corruption. ”
There is another big action in the CBI case. Investigating Officer DSP Ajay Bassi, who was investigating the Rakesh Asthana case, was transferred. Ajay Bassi was sent from Delhi to Port Blair.
M Nageshwar Rao took over charge of the interim directorship of the CBI last night itself. The CBI spokesman said that there is no room or floor seal in the headquarters now.
