Following the counting of five rounds, Congress’s VS Ugharappa is ahead in the Bellary seat with 84257 votes. In this seat, he is contesting from BJP’s J. Shanta.
Bengaluru: The results of the polling for three Lok Sabha and two assembly elections in Karnataka will be announced today. In Shimoga, Bellary and Mandya Lok Sabha seats, BJP is expected to get a tough fight from the Congress-JDS alliance. Three of the three vacant seats were in the account of two BJP and one JDS. Counting of votes has started from 8 a.m.
With the result of bye-bye of two assembly seats, along with the by-election results of the two seats in the assembly today are also coming. Ramnagaram assembly seat was vacant after leaving CM Kumaraswamy. At the same time, after the demise of Congress legislator Sidhu Nizam Gowda, a by-election was held in Jamkhari. Before 2019, another result of the Coalition Test against BJP will come out today.

A total of 1248 counting workers have been deployed in the 31 candidates field, main collision between Congress-JDS and BJP. In the bye-elections of five constituencies, 67 percent voting was held. A total of 31 candidates are in the fray in all the seats, though the main fight is between the Congress-JDS alliance and the BJP. Congress-JDS has fielded candidates in all the seats.

Why is the by-election? Four out of five seats were vacant due to resignation and one seat was vacant due to the demise of the legislator. Shivamoga seat was vacant after the resignation of BS Yeddyurappa, Bellary seat Srimalu and Mandya seat CS Pittaraju. At the same time, CM Kumaraswamy’s resignation from Ramnagar seat and Jamkhandi seat was vacant after the death of Congress MLA Sidhu Nyaygowda.
