Singapore: Today’s two-day Singapore tour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the second and last day. Prime Minister Modi will be present in the ASEAN-India meeting at the time of breakfast this morning. Modi will also participate in the 13th Eastern Asia summit. The issues discussed in the summit include information technology, smart city, marine cooperation and terrorism on border.
Today India-Australia-Japan and USA group meeting will also be held. Modi will meet India-Singapore Hathathan participants before returning to India. He will reward the winners of the first Hathana, who started on Monday. This is a game of Hackathon 40 teams. Singapore Minister of Education Ong Ye Kung will be present in this award ceremony.
During his official tour of Singapore from May 31 to June 2, Modi had proposed in front of his Singapore counterpart Lee Sean Loong that India and Singapore should jointly hold a joint Hedithone. Lee welcomed the proposal. Singapore was tasked with organizing this hackenthon to Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and its innovation and enterprise branch – NTUIT. India had given its responsibility to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The Singapore High Commission in Singapore made this program possible by Singapore’s Education and Foreign Ministry. 20-20 teams from the two countries participated in this competition. These teams included universities and colleges who were selected across the country. These students participated in this hackenthon for the use and performance of youth’s innovation capabilities. In terms of strategic partners, India and ASEAN have close trade and economic relations.
India-ASEAN trade remained $ 81.33 billion in 2017-18. It is 10.58 percent of the total business of India. ASEAN countries share 11.28 percent in the total export of India. In 2017, India and ASEAN celebrated the 25th anniversary of their relationship. The India-ASEAN meeting was held in January this year and on the occasion of the Republic Day, the special guests of ASEAN countries became the special guests of India.
