New Delhi: Last farewell was given to Shahid Lance Naik Najir Ahmed Wani yesterday. Everybody’s eyes were damp on the occasion of the handed-in-e-Khak. His body was brought in a casket and wrapped in a tricolor and his native village Ashmuji was brought to Kulgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, an army official said that Wani was a terrorist terrorist before joining the army. They later left the path of violence and joined the army for serving the country. Army officer said that Lance Naik gave supreme sacrifice for the country of Wani’s country and the peace of his state.
Wani was martyred on November 25 (Sunday) while taking iron from the terrorists in Shopian. In the shootie shootout, the security forces had killed six militants. In which the terrorists of Lashkar-e-Toiba and Hizbul Mujahideen were involved.
Najir Ahmed Wani joined the army in 2004 and while being in the army, twice was awarded Army Medal in August 2017 and 2018. Wani has wife and two children in the house. They were given 21 guns salute while delivering them yesterday. About 500 to 600 people were present on this occasion. His village is notorious for terrorist activities. But as the news of Wani’s death, there was scarcity in the village. His martyrdom will always remember the inheritance.
